You can swap your Cox Explorer 8240HD DVR for a 8300HD at the Cox
Store. We did.
Now you can add 1TB additional hard drive
recording storage to your Cox Explorer
8300HD DVR. Cox does not support adding extended hard drive
storage to their Scientific Atlanta (now part of Cisco) Explorer DVR
models 8240HD or 8300HD. We have pre-configured an external
plug-n-play system kit that will expand the Explorer 8300HD
an additional storage capacity 1TB.
Now you will able to record all those movies,
sport events, and TV series on your DVR. HD broadcasts use lots
of hard drive space.
The Cox Explorer DVR boxes are very selective
of what model hard drive & interface will function correctly.
Cox support says the hard drive storage external expansion capability
is disabled. We have tested numerous hard drives and docking
stations and found one combination that is performing flawlessly.
After weeks of testing there has been NO problems using the EX8300HD1T kit.
Tested March
2011.
Factory Warranty applies - typically 1 year

not provide warranty service. All kits are pre-configured and tested
